Elucid secures US$55m for AI cardio imaging tech

Elucid has raised US$55m in Series D financing to expand its AI cardiovascular imaging platforms and advance BioIntegrated FFR-CT through FDA clearance.

The Boston-based medical technology company said the oversubscribed round brings its total funding to approximately US$185m.

The funding will support commercial expansion of Elucid’s clinical platforms, further research and development, clinical studies and its FDA 510(k) submission for BioIntegrated FFR-CT.

Elucid said it will also use the financing to expand partnerships with medical technology companies.

Chief executive Kelly Huang said: “Analogous to oncology’s shift from population-based, one-size treatment, Elucid is applying AI to integrate anatomy, biology and physiology to bring personalised treatment to coronary artery disease management.

“Physician feedback indicating that our current platform can uniquely lead to better care decisions fuels our mission to predict and personalize the prevention of heart attacks and strokes.”

Elucid develops AI imaging software for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, including its Plaque-IQ and FFR-CT platforms.

Plaque-IQ analyses and characterises coronary and carotid plaque from CT angiography. The software has been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Its FFR-CT technology, which is under FDA review, assesses how coronary artery disease affects blood flow.

The Series D included a new strategic investment from an unnamed publicly traded medtech company. IAG Capital Partners and Elevage Medical Technologies also joined the round as new and strategic investors.

In April, Elucid announced the commercial availability of its Lesion Inspection Tool for coronary and carotid plaque analysis within the Plaque-IQ software suite.

The company said the tool allows physicians to evaluate lesion-specific composition and plaque across any vessel to better understand the patient’s risk profile.

Elucid previously raised US$80m in Series C funding in 2023, US$27m in Series B funding a year earlier and US$8m in Series A financing in 2021.
